• Walters backed up the line in superb fashion. The big Alma senior played the full 60 minutes, making many savage tackles, living up to his title of the best linebacker in Alma history.
• "Bucky" played for the undefeated Oberlin College (Ohio) football team in 1943 as a member of the Marine detachment stationed there.
• After a strong start as an outstanding football player during pre-World War II, Walters was plagued by injuries during both the 1946 and 1947 seasons.
