Justin Scott Harris was a force to be reckoned with during his three years starting on Alma’s defensive line.
Harris a was a two-time first team All-MIAA selection, and received five different All-American recognitions in his career.
After not starting as a freshman, Harris broke into the fold in his sophomore season. On the year, Alma posted a 5-4 record, going 3-3 in MIAA play.
Harris broke out during his junior season. The 1999 Scots went 8-2, going 5-1 in MIAA play. He opened the season strong, equaling an Alma College single game record with five sacks in a 35-7 non-conference win over Thomas More that still stands to this day. Harris went on to record 17 sacks, a single season Scots record, and a mark that has yet to be touched since ‘99. He was recognized by d3football.com for his efforts as a first team All-American, and was a member of the Hewlett Packard second All-American team.
Entering 2000, there was a lot of hype around the senior defensive end. Harris received preseason recognition from Lindy’s Sports Magazine, USA Football, d3football.com, and Smith Small College Sports. It’s safe to say Harris lived up to that hype.
The senior recorded 13 sacks, including notching three sacks in one game on three different occasions in the 2000 season. He earned second team All-America honors from d3football.com, and was also named to the second All-America team by USA Football. In addition, the Dan Hansen Gazette recognized him with third team All-America honors. Harris was also invited to play in the D3 Senior All Star Bowl.
