• Participated in football, basketball, baseball and track.
• Alma College's only known 16 letterwinner.
• Outstanding athlete of the year for 1959-60.
• Unanimous All-MIAA for football in 1960.
• Set school record with a 45-yard field goal against Adrian; also converted 11 of 13 extra point attempts.
• Tied school record of 24 points in a single football game against Albion in 1960. (showed versatility by scoring through four different means - 18-yard run; 82-yard kickoff return, 36-yard pass interception and a five-yard pass reception.
• Led basketball team in scoring in 1959-60.
• Held college high and low hurdle records for many years.
• Frequently scored as many as 20 points in a single track meet.
• Led the baseball team with a .478 batting average in 1959.
