Hall of Fame
The 1988 football team is the ninth to be inducted into the Alma College Athletic Hall of Fame. After allowing 20+ points in their first three games, the Scots defense turned up to another level, allowing seven points or less in five of their remaining six games. The offense averaged 22 points per game in the first 3 weeks, before racheting up to 30 in the remaining stretch. Overall, Alma led the MIAA in total points scored with 246 points in nine games. Sophomore Steve Kinne led the MIAA in total offense with 1,037 yards. Burt Jordan led the conference in rushing with 647 yards on 112 carries and five touchdowns. Kicker Mike Meehleder went 21-21 on extra point kicks. Defense laid claim to the top two interception grabbers in the MIAA, Tim Bonter with three picks, and Peter DeGraff with two.Â
