Sherman Strength and Conditioning Facility
The Sherman Strength and Conditioning Facility opened in August 2016, made possible by a generous donation from Michael Sherman, class of '74. This state-of-the-art facility serves as the primary training space for all of our student-athletes and athletic staff.
Spanning just under 6,000 square feet, the facility features twelve half-rack stations connected by pull-up bars, enabling the execution of all core lifts. These stations are equipped with multiple attachments for step-ups, dips, incline presses, landmine exercises, as well as barbell and free weight storage.
The facility is also equipped with a variety of specialty machines designed for comprehensive athletic development. These include glute-ham developers, plate-loaded hamstring curls, reverse hypers, 45-degree back extensions, a seated calf raise, the Pendulum Squat Pro, a 5-way neck machine, hip press, belt squat machines, hip thrust machine, and an eight-stack multi-station with adjustable pulleys, lat pull-downs, and low cable rows. Our equipment suppliers include Atlantis, Rogers Athletics, and Rogue Fitness.Â
Our Director of Sports Performance emphasizes the importance of these specialty items, noting, "We have a wide variety of training tools designed to enhance sports performance. The facility includes custom dumbbells ranging from 5 to 140 pounds, high-quality bumper plates for ground-based explosive movements, multiple sleds for our 25-yard turf strip, and a variety of specialty bars such as safety squat bars, trap bars, and farmer walk handles. We also offer tibialis anterior bars, various grip tools, sandbags, medicine balls, Concept 2 Row, Ski, and Bike Ergs, as well as multiple handle attachments for the pulley stations and sleds. Additionally, we have a selection of fan bikes and a TrueForm runner to maximize conditioning methods year-round. It was also important to me that we added men's and women's barbells to accommodate all of our student-athletes."
