• Participated in football.
• All-MIAA in football in 1915, 1916 and 1917.
• Was a member of the 1915 and 1917 MIAA champion football teams.
• Captained the 1916-17 basketball team.
• Was a key member of the 1917 Alma squad that defeated Michigan Agricultural College - now Michigan State - by a score of 14-7.
• In 1922, he served as assistant coach at Alma with Hall Of Fame Coach Royal Campbell.
• Worked as a dentist for many years.
• "Richards at right end is easily the star of this position, having such class that his selection is an easy one. Playing every minute in every MIAA game, he excelled - on defense, he proved a whirlwind, especially in the Notre Dame, MAC, and Olivet games."
• "An injury is the only thing that can prevent 'Ping' Richards from making All-State end."
