Bob was a special athlete at Alma College. He had an accomplished Athletic career which may never be duplicated. He was the quarterback of the 1951 championship football team, while earning a letter in cross-country, was the point guard for four basketball teams, played second base on a championship baseball team in 1952, while winning the pole vault in the MIAA conference championship track meet. He earned 12 varsity letters during his time at Alma. Three in football, four in basketball, three in track and field, and one in cross-country, and one in baseball. Five of those athletic letters were earned during his senior year. Mohre was selected by the student body in 1952 as the Alfred Tryhuk Trophy Award winner which was the Alma College Most Valuable Athlete Award.
