• Participated in football, basketball and track and field.
• Graduated from Alma High School in 1927 where he played on the 1927 state championship football squad.
• Earned First Team All-State honors for his performance as a tailback.
• Was a 12-time letter-winner at Alma College.
• Was a starter on the Scots' football team four consecutive years.
• Earned All-MIAA honors in 1929, 1930 and 1931.
• Once returned an intercepted pass 94 yards for a touchdown against Hope.
• Played basketball for four years, earning All-MIAA honors for the 1931-32 season.
• Also competed in sprints and javelin on the track team.
• Worked as a teacher and a coach at Belleville and Clare High Schools.
• Later he worked in various oil-related businesses.
