• He returned an attempted field goal 95 yards for a touchdown against Ferris State.
• Catherman was a pitcher on the 1922 and 1925 MIAA championship baseball teams.
• Graduated from Farmington High School, where he was an All-State guard in basketball.
• Worked as a coach and a counselor at Detroit Mackenzie High School for many years.
