In an era where you could not play or letter in a varsity sport as a freshman, Bob Naru '53 was a First Team All-MIAA selection in both football and baseball in all three years/varsity seasons that he was eligible.

Naru's three baseball teams were all MIAA champs under legendary Alma baseball coach Charles Skinner in 1951, 1952 and 1953, the beginning of Charlie Skinner's remarkable 8-peat of MIAA championships during the 1950s.

Two of Naru's three football teams were also MIAA champions (1950 and 1951). Naru played "both ways" under legendary football coach Lloyd Eaton, starting both as a running back on offense and a linebacker on defense.
