2026 Women’s Soccer Season Preview

ALMA, Mich. – The Alma College women's soccer team is set to begin the 2026 campaign on the road Thursday afternoon, traveling to Ohio for a 4 p.m. matchup against Hiram College. The Scots were picked eighth just ahead of Olivet in the MIAA preseason poll and will look to build on last season's nine-win campaign under second year Head Coach Sam Sibilski.

Athletes to Watch
Junior midfielder Ava Hoffman returns as one of Alma's key offensive threats after a standout 2025 season. Hoffman scored the game-winning goal in four of the Scots' nine victories last season, accounting for 44.4 percent of Alma's wins. Her four game-winning goals ranked fourth in program history for a single season and third in the MIAA in 2025.

Senior goalkeeper Mya Pofahl returns for her final season between the pipes. Pofahl ranked among the MIAA's top five in saves per match last season, averaging 4.00 saves per contest while logging more than 1,000 minutes in goal. She recorded four shutouts, including two complete-game shutouts and two combined shutouts.

The Scots also return all three of their double-figure point scorers from a season ago. Hoffman finished with 16 points, while Emily Ahearn led the trio with 17 points and Grace Sczepanski added 15. Together, the returning trio provides Alma with a proven offensive core heading into the 2026 season.

Road Ahead
The Scots officially kick off the 2026 season Thursday at 4 p.m. at Malmisur Stadium against Hiram College. The Terriers enter the matchup after opening their season Tuesday with a 1-0 loss to Bluffton. Alma and Hiram have not met since the 2019 season, when the Scots earned a 2-0 victory over the Terriers at Scotland Yard.
