ALMA, Mich. – The Alma College women's soccer program fell to Adrian College in, essentially, a MIAA Tournament play-in game on Saturday morning, 2-0.
The Basics:
- Records
- Alma (11-5-1, 2-5 Michigan)
- Adrian (6-9-2, 3-5 Michigan)
- Winning Streak
- Bulldogs (W12) / Scots' Last Win: October 13, 2016 (3-0)
How It Happened:
Neither team could muster much offense in the first half with a light fog possibly providing some visibility issues early as neither side attempted a corner and combined for just four shots (three by Alma) before halftime.
A draw would not have been the worst outcome for the Scots as it would have given them a legitimate chance to punch their ticket to the postseason, unfortunately, the Bulldogs broke the stalemate via a 77th minute goal by Delaney Batur from Melanie Perhne followed approximately seven minutes later by an unassisted score courtesy of Tiara Ellis that put the contest away.
Scots' Top Performers:
Emily Ahearn was the singular Scot to launch multiple shots, landing both of her boots on-frame,
Grace Sczepanski registered the other shot-on-goal, and
Abby Jones tallied a shot but was inaccurate.
Next:
The Alma XI ends the season on Wednesday at 4 p.m. by attempting to upset the #10 Calvin Knights and head into the offseason on a high note.
