Box Score Livonia, MI – Alma College Women's Lacrosse was in action on Saturday, taking on Madonna University in non-conference action. The Scots picked up their first win of the season, with the final score 10-9 in Alma's favor.
Madonna took the first two goals of the game, before
Olivia Lazenby got the Scots on the board at the 8:38 mark of the first quarter.
Makenna Pobocik scored two minutes later to tie the game at two apiece. The score was tied 2-2 after one quarter. Lazenby scored again on a free position just over a minute into the second to give Alma the lead at 3-2. Madonna tied the game three minutes later, and it was
Makayla Kozal who scored the go-ahead goal with 4:03 to play. Kozal would strike again with just under two minutes to play, and Alma led 5-3 at the halftime break.
Out of the half,
Olivia Andrews scored her first goal of the season off a Pobocik assist to push the Alma lead to 6-3. The Crusades answered, but Lazenby made it 7-4 halfway through the quarter. A goal from
Sarah Bollinger pushed it to 8-4, but Madonna scored with under a minute to go, sending Alma to the fourth quarter with a three-goal lead at 8-5. Opening the fourth quarter,
Bryn Bishop got the Scots to a four goal lead, before two goals from the home team cut the Alma advantage down to two. Another marker from Andrews, this time assisted by Lazenby, served as the game-winning-goal. Despite a furious push from Madonna, Alma was able to hold off the Crusaders, and run out with a 10-9 win.
Lazenby led offensively with three goals and one assist. Kozal and Andrews each tallied two goals, and Pobocik two assists. Bollinger led with four ground balls, four draw controls, and four caused turnovers in the win. In the net,
Madison Ramirez stopped 10 of 19 shots.
