Minneapolis, MN - Alma College Football had a pair of student-athletes named as preseason All-Americans by D3football.com on Monday morning. The Scots were represented by
Carter St. John and
JB Couch.
St. John was named to the second team at quarterback, and is coming off a junior season that saw him earn first team All-MIAA, and D3football.com second team All-Region honors. He completed 194 of 297 passes for 2,956 yards, with 404 yards on the ground. He threw for 31 touchdowns, running for five more. The season saw him become Alma College's all-time leading touchdown passer, surpassing Josh Brehm's mark of 85, set from 2003-06. The senior enters 2025 as the NCAA Division III passing yards and passing touchdowns leader among active players, and is second in Scots history in total offense, passing yards, and passing touchdowns.
"I'm proud of these two young men." said Head Football Coach Jason Couch. "They have both worked very hard to improve during their time at Alma, and have become outstanding leaders in our program."
Couch was named as the center on the third team, and was named both first team All-MIAA, and D3football.com third team All-Region last season. Couch anchored an o-line unit that excelled in 2024, allowing the Scots to rack up 4.8 yards per carry, and allowed just eight sacks in ten games last season.
Alma opens their season on September 6 at #19/19 University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
