Alma, MI – Alma College Women's Lacrosse hosted Trine University on Saturday in MIAA action. The Scots were defeated 14-3.
Trine jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter, using smothering defense to keep a potent Alma offense at bay.
Sam Peterson broke the goose egg on the scoreboard when she tallied at 6:11 to go in the opening period. Alma trailed 4-1 after one.
The second quarter was a similar story, with a Trine goal to open things, followed by a
Kirsten Browne mark at 9:00. The Thunder piled on 3 more goals before halftime, and led 8-2 at intermission.
The defenses both hunkered down in the third quarter, and just 1 goal was allowed. It went to Trine at 3:13 to go on a woman-up play. The Thunder outscored Alma 5-1 in the final quarter, with the Scots final goal coming from Browne at 2:42 to play.
Browne registered a team high 2 points with her goals for Alma.
Sam Peterson collected 6 ground balls.
Cassidy Smith (3-7) picked up the loss, making 6 saves on 14 shots on goal against.
Alexis Norko stopped 7 of 13 shots on goal faced.
Alma will recollect before heading to Calvin on Friday.
