Box Score Sewanee, GA – Alma College Women's Lacrosse wrapped up their Spring break trip on the road at Sewanee on Wednesday. The Scots were defeated by a final of 16-7.
The Scots scored first, with
Kirsten Browne scoring twice in 20 seconds, the second goal being assisted by
Sam Peterson. Sewanee answered, and the Scots responded with
Rileigh McGeorge to make it 3-1. Three straight goals from the hosts gave them the lead, but McGeorge scored with 0:08 to go, ending the first quarter 4-4. Only two goals were scored in the second quarter, both by Sewanee, and the Tigers led 6-4 at half.
Sewanee went on a 4-1 run out of the half. McGeorge was able to answer the initial goal, but the three goals after saw Alma down 10-5.
Briar-Rose Mackey and Browne helped Alma to outscore the home side 2-1 in the final 3:31. Despite Alma's best efforts, the Scots were outscored 5-0 in the fourth.
Browne led the scoring with 4 goals, and
Sarah Bollinger led with 3 caused turnovers.
Cassidy Smith (1-3) picked up the loss in goal.
Alma moves to 1-3, and looks forward to a road date with Mount St. Joseph.
