Box Score

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Alma College women's lacrosse team continued their non-conference slate of their schedule in Minnesota on Friday, March 10th. The Scots took on Augsburg University in Minneapolis and came away victorious with a wire-to-wire win, 20-3.

The Scots were able to open the scoring early with Sam Peterson breaking the ice on a pass from Olivia Bunce to put Alma on the board. Alma added another tally just 30 seconds later with an unassisted goal from Kirsten Browne, her first of nine points throughout the contest. Again, just nine second later Emma Keith found the back of the net and gave Alma a three-goal lead just two and a half minutes into the game. Minutes later, Peterson would score her second of the game on an assist from Joanna Scorziello. Jamie Sherman joined in on the action soon after and scored her first of the game, giving Alma a 5-0 lead. Just like three minutes prior, Peterson scored her third of the game from a feed by Scorziello before Sarah Bollinger tallied her first of the game with an assist from Browne, putting Alma up 7-0. The Auggies would break the ice with three minutes remaining in the first and score their first and only of the quarter. Scorziello and Peterson both added a goal in the final minutes of the first and Alma headed into the second quarter with a 9-1 lead.

Augsburg responded early in the second with a goal less than 30 seconds into play. Browne answered back with her second goal of the game, giving Alma an eight-goal lead again. The Auggies scored their final goal of the game on a free position shot with just over six minutes remaining. Rileigh McGeorge scored her first of the game on a free position attempt with five minutes left in the half.  Alma would score their final goal of the half with a man-up opportunity from Peterson and headed into the half with a 12-3 lead.

Entering the third, Browne added on to her season total with an unassisted goal just under a minute into the quarter. Browne tallied another goal, this time man-down with an assist from Peterson. Kylie Lewis was able to score her first collegiate goal on an assist from Scorziello to give Alma a 15-3 lead. Browne and Peterson would both tally a goal each to round out the third quarter, with Browne assisting on Peterson's.

McGeorge scored the first goal of the fourth for Alma on a pass from Browne which gave her the 100th point of her career in just 19 games as a sophomore. Browne already has 33 points on the season, nearly half of what she totaled in the season prior. Lauren Kenny added to the Alma total with another assist from Browne giving her the 101st point of her career and her ninth point of the game. Peterson added the final tally of the game with two minutes remaining and Alma was able to win the first of two games in the Twin Cities.

Ava Frederickson continued her dominance on defense and collected a game-high six grounds balls for the game. Bollinger was able to cause four Augsburg turnovers for a game-high in that respective category. Cassidy Smith and Alexis Norko both tied with one save in the game.

The Scots will compete again tomorrow, March 11th, against the Hamline University Pipers at the Augsburg Dome. Game time is set for 11:30 PM EST.
