Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Alma College women's lacrosse team traveled to Calvin University for their first conference game on Wednesday, April 6. The Scots fell to the Knights, 17-7, for an overall record of 9-1.
Calvin started the scoring quick with back-to-back goals before Kirsten Browne found an opening in the net at the 11-minute mark in the first quarter, 2-1. Calvin responded with another four goals. Browne made the pass to Emma Keith for the second goal of the quarter at, 6-2.
The second quarter was kicked off by Sam Peterson with an assist from Browne, 6-3. The Knights put five more on the board and Kirsten Browne made an unassisted goal for a halftime score of 11-4.
Peterson and Lauren Kenny each grabbed a goal off a free position shot and Calvin added three goals in the third quarter, 14-6.
Browne assisted Rileigh McGeorge for a goal in the start of the fourth quarter, but the Knights followed with three goals for a final score of 17-7 in Calvin's favor.
Browne led the Scots with five points off two goals and three assists. Peterson added two goals and Ava Frederickson added three caused turnovers. Goalie Alaina Frye had 10 saves on the day and Alexis Gibbons added three.
Next, Alma heads back home on Saturday, April 9 to compete against Albion College.
