Box Score NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Alma College women's lacrosse team closed out conference play on Saturday, April 30 against Saint Mary's College for a final score of 21-10 in the Belles favor. Alma finished 1-6 in the MIAA regular season.
Saint Mary's had a hot start with four goals to begin the first quarter. Jamie Sherman started the scoring for the Scots with a pass from Sam Peterson. The Belles added two more goals in the first quarter and Kirsten Browne found the back of the cage, 6-2.
Both teams added two goals in the second quarter starting with an assisted from Browne to Sherman and a free position goal from Peterson for a halftime score of 8-4.
The Belles added two points to the board before Peterson grabbed a second free position goal of the day in the third quarter. Peterson then found the pass to Emma Keith for a goal followed by two Saint Mary's points. Maddy Carter found an opening in the net after a pass from Keith and Browne added two goals to end the third quarter, 12-9.
Saint Mary's pulled away in the fourth quarter with nine goals and Carter found her second goal of the day to post a new personal best. The Scots finished the game down, 21-10.
Browne posted four points off three goals and one assist. Peterson also added four points with two goals and two assists while adding four groundballs. Alaina Frye made a personal best of 16 saves.
The Scots have now scored more goals this season with 275 than any other season in program history.
