Box Score ALMA, Mich. – The Alma College women's lacrosse team competed against Trine University on Sunday, April 24. The Scots fell to the Thunder, 23-8, and are now 1-3 in conference play.
The first quarter was led by Trine with 12 goals to Alma's four. Joanna Scorziello found the back of the net with 14 minutes on the clock followed by six consecutive goals from the Thunder, 6-1. Rileigh McGeorge then added a point to the board but Trine responded with another scoring streak, 10-2. Emma Keith grabbed a goal and Trine found two openings in the net, 12-3. Sam Peterson closed out the first quarter with a point for the Scots, 12-4.
The game was an even match in the second quarter with two goals from each team. Keith and McGeorge each found the cage in the second quarter while Trine also added two goals, 14-6.
Jamie Sherman started the third quarter with a goal, but the Thunder responded with a five-goal run, 19-7.
Kirsten Browne scored the last goal for the Scots at the beginning of the fourth quarter and Trine sealed the deal with four more goals for a final score of, 23-8.
Keith and McGeorge tied with two points each. Ava Frederickson had two caused turnovers and three groundballs. Goalie Alexis Gibbons had five saves in the net and Alaina Frye added four.
Next, Alma continues play at home against Kalamazoo College on Wednesday, April 27.
