Box Score ELMHURST Ill. – The Alma College women's lacrosse team competed against Elmhurst University on Saturday, April 2, for another win at, 17-4. The Scots continue their hot start 9-0 for a new program record of longest winning streak.
Elmhurst started off the game with a 2-0 lead in the first quarter. The Scots responded with three unassisted goals from Joanna Scorziello, Lauren Kenny, and Kirsten Browne for a 3-2 lead heading into the second quarter.
Elmhurst added another point to the board in the second quarter but Alma matched it with a goal from Rileigh McGeorge for a halftime score of, 4-3.
Alma pulled away in the third quarter with two goals from Sam Peterson and Jamie Sherman. The Bluejays found an opening in the net but Alma followed with two more goals from Scorziello to Sherman and then Sherman to Scorziello, 8-4.
The final quarter was all Alma with nine goals from the Scots. McGeorge added two goals and Browne posted four. Sherman, Scorziello, and Kenny each added to the board for a final score of, 17-4.
Scorziello led the Scots with six points off three goals and three assists. Browne led in goals with five. Goalie Alaina Frye had four saves on the day and Alexis Gibbons posted two. Alma went 22-22 on clear to put them at 100% clearing on the weekend.
Next, Alma kicks off conference-play at Calvin University on Wednesday, April 6.
