Alma records ten wins to break school record

ALMA, Mich. –  The Alma College women's lacrosse team grabbed a win at home on Tuesday, April 12 against Adrian College, 21-13. The Scots improved to 10-2 which is the most wins since the 2013 season.  

Alma began the lead in the first quarter with four goals to Adrian's two. It started with an unassisted goal from Emma Keith in the first two minutes of play followed by a goal from the Bulldogs. Lauren Kenny found Joanna Scorziello and Sam Peterson found Kirsten Browne to put two more points on the board. Adrian found one more goal in the first quarter, but Browne found an opening in the net for a 4-2 lead. 

The game went point-for-point for the majority of the second quarter. Keith scored four goals and Kenny added three for the Scots while the Bulldogs found four, 11-6. 

Alma made a break for it in the third quarter with nine goals and allowed three goals from the Bulldogs. Four Scots scored with four from Peterson, two from Keith, another from Kenny, and one from Rileigh McGeorge, 20-9.

Adrian posted four goals in the final quarter and Scorziello added an unassisted goal for a final score of, 21-13.

Keith led the Scots with nine points off seven goals and two assists. Kenny added a career high of four goals and a career high of two assists. Peterson had seven points off four goals and three assists, added five draw controls, and had a career high of six caused turnovers to tie the program record for most caused turnovers in a game. Goalie Alaina Frye had 11 saves on the day.  

Alma now has more draw controls with 209 this season than any other season in program history. This record beats the 2014 record of 204.  

Next, the Scots head to Hope College for their next game on Saturday, April 16.
