Box Score 2 GRANVILLE, OH.- The Alma college women's soccer team spent the weekend on the road with games against Kenyon College and Denison College.
In Friday's match against Kenyon, the team looked promising in the first half as they dominated possession and created scoring opportunities. The Scots went into the game with the goal of maintaining possession better in their attacking third - and the team accomplished this goal. In the second half, Kenyon was able to capitalize on Alma mistakes and which resulted in a 3-0 loss for the Scots. Coach Meghan Gorsuch reflects on the lessons that this game taught the team, she said " Some games teach us lessons that are tough to learn, but are very necessary for progress".
The team continued their Ohio trip with a match up against Denision on Saturday. The highlights for the Scots included a first collegiate goal for Paige Stephens. A composed chip over the goal keeper, coming off a beautiful through ball form Jayden Rawlin. The final score of the game was 5-1, with a Denison victory. Coach Gorsuch was proud of the team for fighting to the finish. Gorsuch said " to be down 3-0 and still fighting in the game is something we're proud of. We made strong adjustments moving into the second half and we are learning to have confidence in our play and figuring out how to work the ball around efficiently."
The Scots will head back to Ohio next to take on the College of Wooster Scots on Saturday, September 11th.
