Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Alma College women's soccer team traveled to Calvin University on Tuesday and played in a tight defensive game that the Knights came out on top by a score of 1-0. The Scots drop to 0-2 on the year.
After being named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week earlier today, senior Ally Wentworth had another stellar night in net for the Scots. The Mount Pleasant native faced six shots on goal in the first half and stopped them all as the game remained scoreless heading into halftime.
In the opening minute of the second half, Lexi Russell sent one on net that was stopped by the Calvin netminder. A few minutes later Lily Stephan put another shot on net that was stopped. Wentworth made a couple saves before giving up only her second goal in two games. Paige Moore had a late shot attempt that went wide.
Along with Russell and Stephan, Makenzie Rajewski and Abigail Dawes each had a shot on goal.
Wentworth ended up with 10 saves for the Scots. Currently the senior is tied for league lead in saves (17) this season.
Alma will host Kalamazoo College on Friday, March 26th at 4 p.m.
