Box Score ALBION, Mich. - The Alma College women's basketball team (4-4, 0-1 MIAA) traveled to Albion College to face the Britons (3-3, 1-0 MIAA). They fell to the Britons, 60-55.
Alma was down by as many as 17 but chipped away at the deficit until it was single digits in the fourth quarter. The final frame was the Scots best shooting quarter of the night (42.9 %) and they made it a four-point game with eight seconds remaining with a 3-pointer by freshman Taylor Sas. Alma would not get another possession for the rest of the game though and came up short.
Sas scored a team-high 14 points from the bench, 12 points of which came from 3-point territory. She had a career-high 10 rebounds tonight, eight on defense. Sas' 14 points plus her 10 rebounds, earned her first double-double in a Scots uniform.
Stasha Warchock scored 12 points, half of her points were from back-to-back 3-pointers in the fourth quarter. The Marquette native also had a season-high five rebounds. Maddie Robbins had five rebounds, five assists and four steals. Kendall Griffioen also showed out on defense with five rebounds, two steals and four blocks.
"I thought we gave great effort the whole game and was proud of how tough we were defensively in the second half." Head Coach Sami Stormont said. "Kendall Griffioen gave us huge minutes on the defensive end and have us a chance to win the game. We turned it over too much on the offensive end to win against a team like Albion."
The Scots will be seen again at home, facing off against Trine University on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. on their home court.
