Box Score ALMA, Mich. — The Alma College Women's Soccer team took on Albion College on Saturday, Oct. 9, and beat the Britons, 2-0. This win marked the Scots' first conference win of the year, which according to Head Coach Meghan Gorsuch, will be a key advantage come tournament time.
"We have been working so hard. The scores of the previous games this whole season have not been reflective of the team talent level that we have, so it feels really good to have something to show for that," Coach Gorsuch said.
The first half of the game was a defensive battle with no goals on the board for either team. The second half was when Alma broke away. Within the first 40 seconds of play, Emma Petrock found Meghan Pfile to put the Scots up 1-0. At the 65-minute mark, Lily Stephan made a pass to Ashley Oldham for an open shot on goal to secure the lead at 2-0. Goalkeeper Nicole Tuzinowski had a perfect day with two saves in the net.
Alma is now 1-3 in conference play and 3-8 overall. Next, the Scots face Olivet College at home on Tuesday, Oct. 12.
