Ray, Benoit Reach Milestones Against Hope

Holland, Mich. - Juniors Allie Ray (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y. / Comsewogue) and Olivia Benoit (Grosse Pointe, Mich. / Grosse Pointe North) continued to cement themselves in the history books as the Alma College women's lacrosse teams 18-1 fell to Hope College on Wednesday (April 24) evening.

With 21 saves, Ray broke the career saves record in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association games with 334 and the MIAA single-season record with 121.

Benoit's goal came in a free position attempt at the 26:16 mark. It moved her into fourth place on Alma's career goals list with 84. She is currently fifth with 100 career points, just one behind Shelby Frazer for fourth place. Benoit lays claim to 14 free position goals this season, third-most in the conference.

Notables

  • In addition to breaking two MIAA records, Allie Ray is three saves away from breaking the Alma college single-season saves record, which she also owns. She currently sits at 191 saves, 35 more than third place. Ray is already the program's all-time leader in saves with 535.
  • Ray broke her own single-season conference saves record; she made 112 stops last season.
  • Ray also picked up a game-high seven ground balls. She has 125 in her career, the fourth-most in program history.

Alma will close out the season on Saturday (April 27) against Olivet College. Both teams are looking for their first conference win. The game is scheduled to start at noon.
