Women's Soccer Falls to Adrian on Bahlke Field

Box Score

Alma, Mich. - The Alma College women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Adrian College on Friday (Oct. 4). The game was played on Bahlke Field due to poor field conditions at Scotland Yard.

The Scots (6-3-1, 1-1) needed some time to adjust to the turf; they only took two shots in the first half. Play was mostly in the midfield until the 45th minute when Megan Louwers got Adrian on the board. The Bulldogs added another goal in the 57th minute from Caroline Fleming.

Dakota Booher scored her first career goal in the 71st minute off a free-kick. From about midfield, she sent the kick to the back post where a host of Scots were waiting to attack. Through the scrum, the ball bounced once in the box and over everyone's heads but under the crossbar to cut the lead in half. Alma tried to keep the pressure on but could only get five shots off in the final 16 minutes, one of which was on goal.

Ally Wentworth (Mt. Pleasant, Mich. / Mt. Pleasant) made four saves in the game. The Scots outshot Adrian 15-9 and 13-4 in the second half. The Bulldogs were called for 12 fouls in the game to Alma's eight; Adrian's Cassidy Conner was also given a yellow card.

Alma returns to action on Wednesday (Oct. 9) when it will travel to Albion to face the Britons at 7:00 p.m.
