Women's Soccer Ends in Tie Against Trine

Alma, Mich. - The Alma College women's soccer team tied with Trine University in their first conference matchup of the season on Wednesday (Sept. 26) afternoon. 

Sophomore Tori Aquilino (Plymouth, Mich. / Canton) scored her first career goal in the game, while sophomore Ally Wentworth (Mt. Pleasant, Mich. / Mt. Pleasant) had four saves as the goalkeeper for the Scots. 

The Scots are now 2-6-1 on the year while Trine moves to 3-6-1 overall. 

How It Happened

  • After a scoreless first half, Trine University's Morgan Sanderson had the first goal of the game at the start of the second period to earn the Thunder a 1-0 lead. 
  • Aquilino scored unassisted in the 81st minute of play to tie the game. 
  • After two overtime periods, the match ended in a tie. 
  • The Scots had 12 shots total to Trine's 11. Sophomore Mackenzie Rajewski (Midland, Mich. / Midland) had a team-high of three shots, while senior Tori Aquilino (Hastings, Mich. / Lansing Catholic) earned two shots on goal.

The Scots will face off against Adrian College on the road this Saturday (Sept. 29) at 12 p.m.
