Box Score Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Alma College women's soccer team fell by a 4-0 margin to Calvin College on Thursday (Sept. 14) evening in the first-ever night game at Calvin's Zuidema Field.
The Knights (6-0-0, 3-0-0 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association), scored twice in each half, while Amy Kliewer made five saves to keep the Scots (0-4-2, 0-4-0 MIAA) off the board.
Senior Kelsey Postema (Marshall, Mich./Marshall) stopped eight shots for Alma.
How It Happened
- Calvin took a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute when Cam Rietberg scored on a header from inside the box after taking a crossing pass from Emily Van Vliet.
- The Knights expanded their lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 45th minute. Abby Koops sent a shot from the left side of the box across to the right post with 29 seconds left to play.
- Calvin went up 3-0 in the 57th minute when Sydney Barcey scored on a shot after a scrum in the box, then added another goal in the 70th minute when Anica Pausma scored off of a corner kick by Kali Mouw.
Next Up
The Scots return to Scotland Yard on Saturday, Sept. 23, to face Saint Mary's College. The game is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. start.
