Box Score Duluth, Minn. – The Alma College women's soccer team earned a tie in its season opener on Friday (Sept. 1) evening, playing even with host College of St. Scholastica in the opening day of the 2017 Advantage Emblem Cup at Saint Field.
Freshman Makenzie Rajewski (Midland, Mich./Midland) scored her first career goal in the 34th minute, while senior Amanda Mladenovski (Shelby Township, Mich./Henry Ford II) gave Alma (0-0-1 overall) a 2-1 lead in the 66th minute. The Saints (0-0-1) tied the game in the 83rd minute.
Senior Kelsey Postema (Marshall, Mich./Marshall) stopped six of the eight shots in goal for the Scots.
What Happened
- Down 1-0 after a goal by St. Scholastica in the seventh minute, Mackenzie Rajewski netted her first career goal in the 34th minute on a header, knocking in a pass from freshman Lauren Sollestre, who earned her first career assist.
- Amanda Mladenovski scored her fifth career marker to give Alma a 2-1 lead in the 66th minute. She finished off a double-pass and sent the ball into the bottom right corner. Senior Kaylynne Perian (Livonia, Mich./Franklin) and senior Whitnee Foote (Mt. Pleasant, Mich./Mt. Pleasant) were credited with the assists.
