Holland, Mich. - The Alma College women's lacrosse team rounded out its 2017 season with a 12-2 loss against the Hope College Flying Dutch. The Scots finished the season with a record of 8-8 and went 2-6 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association. This was the most games the Scots have won overall since the 2013 season.

Despite being out-shot by the Scots 13-11 in the first half, the Flying Dutch held the lead for the entire half. Junior Brianna Soriano (San Diego, Cali. / Serra) got the Scots on the board with an unassisted goal at the 2:30 mark. Freshman Mia Harvey (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Forest Hills Northern) recorded the other goal for the Scots in the second half of play.

The Scots, who won the battle for draw controls 12-4, were led by senior Darby Kahler (Coldwater, Mich. / Coldwater) with a game-high five while fellow senior Kaitlyn Urick (Glen Ellyn, Ill. / Glenbrand West) trailed close behind with four. This is the seventh game this season that Kahler has led the team in draw controls. Kahler, who has recorded 46 draw controls this season, finished seventh in the conference in this statistic.

In goal for the Scots was freshman Allie Ray (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y. / Comsewogue) who made 10 saves off 22 shots. This is the tenth game this season where Ray has made 10+ saves in a game. Ray will finish first in the conference with a save percentage of 51.2 percent.

Against the Flying Dutch, Ray led the team and tied her career-high of seven ground balls. Senior Kilee DeBrabander (Marshall, Mich. / Marshall), who collected four ground balls today, finished sixth in the MIAA. DeBrabander has set a new personal single-season record with 46 ground balls.
