Scots fall to Albion on the road

Albion, Mich. - The Alma College women's lacrosse team suffered a 17-4 loss to the Albion College Britons in the Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium earlier this afternoon (Apr. 9). The Scots are now 3-5 on the season and 0-2 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). 

Freshman Carly D'Alessandro (Midland, Mich./Midland Dow) notched two goals in today's game, leading the Scots. She has marked her 12th goal this season and she has scored in every game this season except two.

Alma was unable to generate any goals in the first half of play even though they recorded more draw controls than Albion in the half (5-3). Alma allowed Albion to score seven unanswered goals to enter the halftime break with the 7-0 lead.

The Scots came out of the half with a goal from Alessandro to cut the lead 7-1. However, Albion retaliated with with six consecutive goals to give the Britons them 13-1 advantage. Alessandro gathered another goal followed almost immediately with a free position goal from senior Emily Reverman (Grand Ledge, Mich./Grand Ledge), bringing the score to 13-3.

Albion would go on to score four more goals before Alma's sophomore Katherine Rogers (Farmington Hills, Mich./Farmington Hills) found the back of net in the final minute of play. At the conclusion of the day Alma fell to Albion 17-4.

Freshman Nikki Holbrook (West Jordan, Utah/Copper Hills) was in net for the Scots collecting a total of nine saves in the game. This is the third game she has recorded nine saves, tying a season high.

Reverman led all players with six ground balls and recorded a team high of two caused turnovers. Two of the Scots four goals came from Alessandro, who has scored in every game this season but two. 

The Scots get to return home for two home games at Bahlke Field this upcoming week. The Scots will welcome the Comets from Olivet College on Tuesday (Apr. 12) for a 6:00 p.m. start time. The following Saturday, (Apr. 16) the Scots will have their Senior Day as they face off against Calvin College. The game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
