Notre Dame, Ind. - The Alma College women's lacrosse team suffered a road defeat today (Friday, April 22) against Saint Mary's College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association action. The Scots dropped a 12-8 decision to the Belles, bringing their record to 4-7 overall and 1-4 in the league. Saint Mary's improved to 7-7 and 4-2 in the MIAA.

Senior Emily Reverman (Grand Ledge, Mich./Grand Ledge) had a team-high three goals, scoring them consecutively in the fourth quarter. Senior Ashton Street (Brighton, Mich./Brighton) and sophomore Shelby Frazer (Holt, Mich./Holt) both netted two goals each. 

Saint Mary's started the game off on a five-goal scoring streak before Reverman fired back with three unanswered goals to cut the Belle's lead to 5-3. Saint Mary's notched three more goals while the Scots added two to head into the halftime break trailing by an 8-5 margin. 

The Scots had three goals in the second half and outshot Saint Mary's, 13-7, but the Belles were able to hold their lead. 

Sophomore Stephanie Mangutz (Mio, Mich./Mio-AuSable) paced Alma with a season-high five ground balls. Freshman Nikki Holbrook (West Jordan, Utah/Copper Hills) was in net for the Scots and recorded five saves.

Alma will return to Bahlke Field and have their last home game of the season on Tuesday (Apr. 26), welcoming Kalamazoo College. The game, which is part of a lacrosse doubleheader, is set to begin at 4:00 p.m. The men's game, which features Alma against Calvin College, will immediately follow at 7:00 p.m.
