Box Score Birmingham, Ala - The Alma College women's lacrosse team fell to Birmingham Southern as they rounded out their week long spring break trip on the road. The Scots fell 11-5 to the home team and Alma now sits at 1-3 on their 2016 season.
Birmingham Southern netted the first five goals of the game jumping out to the quick 5-0 lead before freshman Carly D'Alessandro (Midland, Mich./Midland Dow) recorded the first Scots goal to put Alma on the board at 5-1.
Senior Ashton Street (Brighton, Mich./Brighton) netted two of her four goals to follow D'Alessandro's goal but Birmingham Southern answered with three goals of their own to bring the halftime score to 8-3.
Birmingham Southern came out of the gates firing scoring the first two goals of the half to make the score 10-3. Street remained relentless scoring the only two Alma goals on free position attempts but the Scots still fell 11-5.
In eight shots, six of them being on goal Street recorded a total of four goals. She also picked up three ground balls and led the squad with four draw controls. On the defensive side senior Emily Reverman (Grand Ledge, Mich./Grand Ledge) led the team with four ground balls and recorded four caused turnovers.
The Scots will take a break from action and return back to Michigan for more practice before they pack back up and travel to Ohio. Alma will take on Sweet Briar at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio on Sunday, March 20. Game time is currently set for 11:00 a.m.
