Box Score Westerville, Ohio - The Alma College women's lacrosse team broke its two game losing streak in a dominant fashion defeating Sweet Briar 18-3 in Westerville, Ohio. Alma netted 13 goals in the first half then added five more in the second half allowing Sweet Briar to only score in the first half of play.
Sophomore Shelby Frazer (Holt, Mich./Holt), sophomore Katherine Rogers (Farmington Hills, Mich./Farmington Hills) and senior Emily Reverman (Grand Ledge, Mich./Grand Ledge) all had three goals and Frazer led the team with three assists as well.
Sweet Briar came out of the gates firing taking the quick 3-0 lead in just the first minute and a half of play as three separate players scored for the Vixens. Alma put a stop to that as they did not allow Sweet Briar to score, ultimately going on an 18-0 run.
The Scots posted 28 shots on goal while liming the Vixens to just seven chances on net. Freshman Nikki Holbrook (West Jordan, Utah/Copper Hills) and senior Miranda Kruse (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor Pioneer) split time in the net, Holbrook picking up a save and Kruse with three saves.
Senior Ashton Street (Brighton, Mich./Brighton) led the Scots with a season high seven ground balls and two caused turnovers. Junior Darby Kahler (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater) did her part with six ground balls and two caused turnovers while Reverman picked up six ground balls of her own as well.
Alma will hit the road again as they travel to Granville, Ohio on Wednesday (Mar. 23) to play against Denison College. The game is slated for 4:00 p.m.
