Box Score Albion, Mich. - The Alma College women's basketball team traveled to Albion, Mich. to play the Albion College Britons in search of their first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association victory. Alma came up short being defeated by Albion, 73-65 in the final quarter of the game.
Alma saw their largest lead of the game early at 3:37 in the first outscoring the Britons 15-4 after two made free throws by junior Tara Padgett (Freeland, Mich./Freeland) but Albion answered with a 14-0 run to take the lead 18-15 going in to the second quarter. Albion held the lead for the majority of the second quarter but Alma found a spark in the final minutes of the second quarter to enter the half with the 34-32 lead over the Britons.
Albion regained the lead early at the start of the third quarter but freshman Madeline Barnauskas (Livonia, Mich./Dearborn Divine Child) made a lay up to tie the game 39-39 with 5:09 left to go in the third quarter. Albion's Sophia Sanflippo made a jumper shortly and Albion took the lead back again and never looked back ultimately defeating the Scots, 73-65.
Junior Kaitlyn Kendall (Farmington, Mich./North Farmington) led for the Scots with a season high 17 points. Two more Scots scored in double digits including senior Raeanna Zink (Frankenmuth, Mich./Frankenmuth) off the bench who notched 12 closely followed by senior Kassidi Adams (Montrose, Mich./Montrose) who added 11 points. Freshman Kelsey Wolffis (Muskegon, Mich./Mona Shores) led all players with seven total rebounds.
Alma now stands at 4-7 overall and 0-4 in the MIAA, while Albion improved to 4-8 on their season and 1-3 in the conference. Alma will continue its MIAA play on the road this Saturday (Jan. 9) at Kalamazoo College. The tip-off time is slated for 3:00 p.m. in the Anderson Athletic Center.

- Kaitlyn Kendall scored a season high of 17 points.
- Alma snapped a three game win streak, their longest streak since the 2012 season.
- Kelsey Wolffis has recorded a block in every single game this season except one.
- Alma shot 45.8% from the field, their best of the 2015-16 season.
- Kassidy Blough has made at least one three pointer in every game this season but one.
- This is the largest margin the Scots have been out rebounded this season.
