Box Score Olivet, Mich. - The Alma College women's basketball team out scored Olivet College in every quarter except the fourth being out scored 28-15 to give the Comets their fourth Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) victory. Alma drops to 0-6 in the MIAA and 4-9 on the season while Olivet's record is 8-7.
Freshman Kassidy Blough (Jackson, Mich./East Jackson) led the team with a season high 24 points while she dished out four assists. Off the bench, junior Tara Padgett (Freeland, Mich./Freeland) chipped in 11 points for the Scots and led with five helpers.
Freshman Kelsey Wolffis (Muskegon, Mich./Mona Shores) notched a season high seven blocks while junior Kaitlyn Kendall (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington) logged a career high three steals.
Alma went in to half time with the 36-32 lead as they shot 73.9 percent from field goal, led by Blough who went 4-6. Alma came out of the locker room out scoring the Comets 15-10 going in to the fourth with the 51-42 lead. Olivet poured it on in the fourth quarter shooting 61.5 percent defeating the Scots 70-66.
Alma shot 50 percent from field goal range holding Olivet to 43.6 percent and they also out rebounded the Comets 33-32. The Scots put in 32 points from the paint and dished out a grand total of 14 assists.
Alma will return to their home court this Saturday (Jan. 16) as they host Calvin College at 3:00 p.m. The women's basketball team will be hosting a fundraiser for student Annalee Konsoer-Rose '19, with all proceeds donated to Annalee's family to assist with her medical expenses.
Game Notes:
- Kassidy Blough reached a season-high 24 points.
- Kelsey Wolffis has recorded a block in every game this season except two and she notched a season high seven blocks.
- This is Kassidy Blough's second twenty point game in the 2015-16 campaign.
- Alma will host five home games in a row starting on Saturday (Jan. 16).
- Kaitlyn Kendall recorded a career-high three steals.
