Box Score PELLA, Iowa — Under extreme heat conditions, the Alma College women's soccer team fell to Central College, 2-0, on Saturday (Sept. 4) afternoon at the Central College soccer field. The Scots are now 0-1 on the season while the Dutch improved to 2-0.
Central edged Alma in shots by a 22-20 margin, but both teams were able to put nine shots on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Kelsey Postema (Marshall, Mich./Marshall) made seven saves in her collegiate debut.
The Dutch found the net in the 22nd minute to open the scoring, then sealed the match with another marker in the 59th minute. Central Goalkeeper Sydney Lunardi stopped all nine shots she faced. Junior Megan Kalanik (Milford, Mich./Lakeland) and Macayla Greiner (Hart, Mich./Hart) tallied two shots on goal each for the Scots.
Alma remains on the road to open the season and will travel to Monmouth, Ill., to take on the Fighting Scots. Match time is slated for Noon on Sunday (Sept. 6) at Monmouth's Peacock Memorial Athletic Park.
