Box Score Angola, Ind. - Senior Kelly Wilson (Midland, Mich./Dow) scored 1:47 into overtime help the Alma College women's soccer come from behind and secure a 2-1 victory over Trine University at Weaver Field. The Scots (3-6 overall, 2-5 MIAA) snapped a three-match losing streak with the win, while the Thunder (1-8-1 overall, 0-7-1 MIAA) remain winless in their last nine outings.
The match was delayed for 30 minutes due to heavy rains in the area, which seemed to give Trine a boost, as it gained a 1-0 advantage in the 15th minute when Skyler Reed re-directed a crossing pass from Jamie McCarell and sent the ball past freshman keeper Becca Gamble (Midland, Mich./Dow).
The Thunder would hold that lead for the next 50 minutes until senior Bryn Kittle (Rockford, Ill./Rockford Christian) finished off a pass from sophomore Whitnee Foote (Mt. Pleasant, Mich./Mt. Pleasant) in the 66th minute.
The teams would remain tied until the end of regulation, then Wilson ended the match in the 92nd minute when she took a crossing pass from junior Megan Kalanik (Milford, Mich./Lakeland) and sent into the goal.
Alma outshot the Thunder by a 32-7 margin, including 22-1 in the second half. The Scots also received six corner kick opportunities while holding Trine to none. Kristina Veljovic made 12 saves in goal for Trine, including a stop in the 90th minute off of a header by Kittle to send the match into an extra session, as Alma recorded 14 shots on goal to the Thunder's 4.
The Scots return home to finish up the first half of MIAA play on Saturday, Oct. 3, hosting Saint Mary's on Homecoming weekend. The match is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. start at Scotland Yard on the campus of Alma College.

QUOTES
Head Coach Ashley Bingaman
On the win ..
"We started off a little slow, but came out in the second half and just owned the game, and that's what we've been talking about having to do. Their keeper was making some unbelievable saves, and we had to calm down and trust that a goal was going to come."
On what the win means for the team at this point in the season ...
"It was critical. This was a must-win game for us and we knew that. It was what we needed, and we need to take this momentum and roll with it going into Saturday against another good MIAA team."
On Kelly Wilson ...
"The leadership and presence that Kelly has is awesome. She did what she does best. In the final minutes, under pressure, she got exactly where she needed to be and laid herself out on the line."
