ALMA, Mich. – for the last time on Scotland Yard for the 2025 season, the Alma College women's soccer team took the field for a Wednesday afternoon duel with the Thunder of Trine University. Alma was ousted by Trine to a final score of 2-0.
The Scots found themselves on defense early as the Thunder created a push offensively from the first whistle. The Thunder broke through for the game's first goal at the 23-minute mark as a shot from the left side of the field came flying in a sneaked past Mya Pofahl as a wet ball slipped through Pofahl's mitts. The Scots found some offense following the goal though both teams didn't find the score sheet as the half would end with the thunder up one.
Kicking off the second half, Trine put some pressure on the Scots with a handful of shots on net, though the Scots would find themselves on offense a portion more in the latter half. The Thunder extended their lead just past the 30-minute mark in the second half as a free kick would help set up a loaded box for Trine and add another tally. Following the Thunder goal, the game saw a back-and-forth battle where both offenses saw higher quality chances, testing the goalies heading into short time. In the final minutes, Alma saw chances, but Trine would stand tall and hold the Scots scoreless for the contest.
Pofahl saw 70 minutes of action, making eight saves, followed by Min Coulombe who played the final 20 minutes. Brenna Rohloff led the Scots with two shots on goal while playing nearly a full 90.
Alma will head to The University of Olivet on Saturday, October 25th, for a Saturday afternoon contest with the Comets. Kickoff for the women is set for noon.
