ALMA, Mich. – Celebrating their senior class of 2025, the Alma College women's soccer team battled early in the morning on a wet and breezy Saturday hosting Saint Mary's College on October 18th. The Scots battled back-and-forth all game though a penalty kick awarded to the Belles would be the determining factor in a 1-0 game. 

In a game where both teams saw an evenly matched competition, shots on goal came at a premium. Saint Mary's was able to put the first shot on net at the 20-minute mark while the Scots first shot on goal came 20 minutes later. The game saw a large battle for possession throughout the first half as both teams looked to strike methodically. After the first half came to a close still tied at zeroes, Saint Mary's was awarded a penalty kick around 18 minutes remaining in the second as goalkeeper Mya Pofahl was given a yellow card. Brooke Baumann from the Belle's took advantage of the opportunity and put the Scots down one with under 20 left to play. Alma's best chance to tie the game would come with mere seconds remaining in the game as Grace Sczepanski would charge towards the net alone with the keeper but would ultimately not score and the Scots would fall in a tightly contested matchup. 

Five separate Scots recorded shots on net in the contest while Pofahl made five stops between the pipes over the full 90 minutes. 

Alma will return to Scotland Yard on Wednesday to host the Trine University Thunder for a midweek matchup. Kickoff for the conference competition will begin at 3:00 PM.
