Box Score The Alma College Women's Lacrosse ended its three-game road trip on Sunday, traveling to take on Augustana College (IL) at Thorson-Lucken Field. The Scots fell behind 10-0 to start the game and would be unable to recover, eventually dropping the 18-3 decision to the Vikings on the road.
With the loss, Alma falls to 1-6 on the year, while Augustana improves to 4-1 overall with the victory.
The home team was in control from the opening draw control, putting up 10-unanswered goals to take the 10-0 lead with just over 11 minutes remaining in the first half.
At 9:23, Sr. MF Tracy Gallihugh (Lansing/Waverly) would collect her team-leading 19th goal to put Alma on the board and make the score 10-1.
The Vikings would score again minutes later, before Jr. A Ashton Street (Brighton/Brighton) would find the back off the net off of a free position attempt. With 4:46 remaining in the half, the Scots were down 11-2.
Augustana ended the half with two more goals to take the 13-2 lead after the first 30 minutes of action.
The home team remained in control during the second half, scoring five-straight goals to extend the advantage to 18-2.
With just six seconds remaining, Street would collect her second goal of the afternoon, again on a free position shot, to make the final score 18-3 on Sunday.
Street led the way for the Scots, scoring two goals on three shots while collecting two groundballs and two draw controls. Gallihugh added the other score for Alma and So. MF Brianna Yaroch (Sanford/Meridian) scooped up a team-best four groundballs.
In goal, So. GK Miranda Kruse (Ann Arbor/Ann Arbor Pioneer) allowed 18 goals on 24 shots to fall to 1-6 on the year.
The Scots return to Bahlke Field on Saturday, March 28, welcoming Concordia University (WI) for a game scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
