Box Score The Alma College Women's Lacrosse kicked off a three-game road trip on Saturday, traveling to Ohio to take on Capital University (OH) at Bernlohr Stadium. The Scots would struggle against the Crusaders on the road, dropping the 16-3 decision on Saturday afternoon.
Alma drops its fourth-straight to fall to 1-4 on the year, while Capital improves to 3-0 with the victory.
The Crusaders came out firing at home, scoring four goals in the first four minutes of action to take the 4-0 lead with 26:18 remaining in the first half.
Sr. MF Tracy Gallihugh (Lansing/Waverly) would put the Scots on the board at 22:56, scoring her team-best 16th goal to cut the deficit to 4-1.
Capital would rattle off four more goals in the next ten minutes to expand its advantage to 7-1 with just over 12 minutes to go in the half.
At 10:13, Jr. MF Mallory Simon (Grand Rapids/Forest Hills Northern) would collect her first goal of the season on a man-up opportunity to bring the Scots within five at 7-2.
The Crusaders would end the half by scoring three-straight goals to take the commanding 10-2 after the first 30 minutes of action.
The home team would start the second half by scoring four more goals to extend the advance to 14-2 with 14:48 left to play in regulation.
Jr. A Ashton Street (Brighton/Brighton) would find the back of the net for the 13th time this season, to bring the score to 14-3 with just over 11 minutes to go.
Capital would close out the game by scoring two more goals, to earn the 16-3 victory at home.
Gallihugh, Street and Simon accounted for the three Alma goals, while Jr. D Emily Reverman (Grand Ledge/Grand Ledge) led the way with five groundballs.
In goal, So. GK Miranda Kruse (Ann Arbor/Ann Arbor Pioneer) drops to 1-4 on the year after collecting eight saves on 24 shots.
Capital held the advantage in shots 32-12 and groundballs 31-15.
The Scots will stay in Ohio tomorrow, taking on the College of Wooster (OH) at 2:00 p.m.
