Box Score Holland, Mich. - The Alma College women's basketball team traveled to the campus of Hope College to play in the Post Exam Jam Tournament for two days of action where they concluded the first day with a 71-65 win over Lake Forest, Ill.
With the victory, the Scots picked up their second victory of the 2015-16 campaign as they stand at 2-5 overall and 0-3 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). Lake Forest fell to 3-4 on their season.
Three Scots scored in the double-digits the victory, led by freshman Kassidy Blough (Jackson, Mich./East Jackson) who notched a season-high 22 points. Senior Kassidi Adams (Montrose, Mich./Montrose) put in 13 points for Alma and senior Raeanna Zink (Frankenmuth, Mich./Frankenmuth) chipped in 10 points from off the bench and pulled in team high eight rebounds.
Alma trailed the entire first quarter then sophomore Chloee King (Standish, Mich./Standish Sterling) sank a three pointer to give Alma 16-15 lead at the quarter. It was a back and forth second quarter but four consecutive made free throws and a three pointer gave Lake Forest the 33-27 lead at the half.
Alma went on a 14-6 run at the start of the third quarter but Lake Forest went on a run of their own late in the third quarter going in to the fourth quarter with yet another lead at 52-51. Alma had nine free throw attempts in the final three minutes of the game, sinking five of them to give them just what they needed for the 71-65 victory.
The Scots remain on the road, continuing their play in the Post Exam Jam Tournament. Alma will play tomorrow (Dec. 19) at 1:00 p.m. against Lawrence University who currently stands at 0-6, yet still have to play Hope College this evening.
GAME NOTES:
- Kassidy Blough recorded a season high of 22 points.
- Kelsey Wolffis had two blocks and has recorded at least one block in all games but one.
- Raeanna Zink scored her in the double digits for the 33rd time in her career.
