Scots Women's LAX continues winning ways with a 17-9 victory at Olivet

The Alma College Women's Lacrosse team traveled to Olivet on Wednesday night in a MIAA contest and earned an impressive 17-9 victory over the Comets. The Scots improved to 3-0 in the league and 13-1 in 2013, while Olivet is now 0-2 in the MIAA and 2-6 overall.

Thr Scots took a 2-0 lead in the first 6:30 with goals by Sr. M Sydney Bryce (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) and So. M Tracy Gallihugh (Lansing, Mich./Waverly). The game was 3-2 when the Scots scored the next seven goals, with two from Bryce and one from Gallihugh to lead the visitors to the 10-3 halftime lead.

Alma put no doubt in the game as Gallihugh scored two goals in the first 2:02 of the second half to extend the lead to 12-3 and the Scots never looked back en route to the victory. For the final frame, the visitors ended up outscoring the Comets by a margin of 7-6.

Gallihugh finished the game with six goals on seven shots on goal, while Sr. A Christie Havrilla (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) had four tallies and one assist with six shots on goal. Bryce finished with three goals on her three shots on goal and Jr. GK Stephanie Herman (Bay City, Mich./All-Saints Central) had nine saves in earning the win.

The Scots will host Adrian College on Saturday afternoon in another MIAA tilt. Start time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Bahlke Field.
