Alma College's Women's Lacrosse team hosted Midland University (Neb.) in a non-league match at Bahlke Field and came away with a 9-5 victory. With the win, the Scots are now 9-1 on the season, while the Warriors fell to 4-4 in 2013.

On another cold and cloudy afternoon, the Scots jumped on the visitors from Nebraska, scoring six goals in the first 13 minutes for a 6-0 lead. Alma was paced by three unassisted goals by So. M Tracy Gallihugh ((Lansing, Mich./Waverly). The Warriors finally settled down and scored the final three goals of the half as the Scots went into halftime with a 6-3 advantage.

A little over four minutes into the second half, Midland scored again to make it a 6-4 game and the teams were poised for a tense remainder of the game. Gallihugh scored at 22:35 to give Alma a 7-4 lead the score would remain that way for the next 17 minutes.

The Scots scored goals at 5:38 and 4:27 to increase the lead to 9-4 and even though Midland recorded the final tally of the night, the home team was able to walk off the field with the hard-earned 9-5 triumph.

Sr. A Christie Havrilla (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) scored two goals for the Scots while Fr. A Ashton Street (Brighton, Mich./Brighton) and Sr. M Mary Harwood (Port Huron, Mich./Northern) each had a goal a piece in the win. Jr. GK Stephanie Herman (Bay City, Mich./All-Saints Central) had seven saves in net to record the win.

Next up for the Scots is the MIAA opener at Hope College on April 2 in Holland. Start time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
