Women's LAX defeats Calvin College 12-3 on Tuesday night

On a cold Tuesday night, the Alma College Women's Lacrosse team defeated Calvin College 12-3 in a non-league contest played at Davenport University in Grand Rapids. With the victory, the Scots are now 5-1 on the season, while the Knights fell to 0-3 in 2013.

The Scots jumped on the Knights early and never looked back, taking a 8-0 lead into halftime. Alma led 10-0 just shy of the midway point of the second half before Calvin scored their first goal of the game.

The Knights made it 10-3 before the Scots notched the final two tallies of the match to walk off the field with the 12-3 victory.

For Alma, Jr. GK Stephanie Herman (Bay City, Mich./All-Saints Central) recorded 11 saves in net to earn the victory, while So. MF Tracy Gallihugh (Lansing, Mich./Waverly) led the team in points with three goals and two assists while adding 10 shots on goal.

Fr. A Laura Ventura (Farmington Hills, Mich./Harrison) had three goals, while So. MF Sydney Broyce (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) and Sr. A Brittney Cole (Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) each notched two goals in the win for Alma.

Up next for the Scots is Robert Morris-Chicago on Friday afternoon in the 2013 home opener for the team. Start time for the match at Bahlke Field is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
