Box Score On a warm Tuesday night on the first day of October, the Alma College men's soccer team traveled to Kalamazoo for a MIAA contest against the Hornets. The home team scored the only goal of a tightly contested match, taking a 1-0 victory off of the pitch.
With the loss, Alma is now 2-2 in the MIAA and and 6-2 overall this season, while Kalamazoo is now also 2-2 in the league and 4-4 in 2013.
"Tough game tonight as there were not a lot of chances created by either team," said Scots Head Coach Josh Oakley. "The game lacked bite and we were probably on the short end because we weren't as sharp as we could have been. Every team will have days like this in MIAA play and it's the team who can regroup and prepare to come back stronger the next game who will emerge in this league as champions. I believe we will play very well on Saturday."

Kalamazoo scored the lone goal of the game when Kyle Hernandez scored from out front of the net at the 50:54 mark of the second half, giving the home team the 1-0 margin of victory.
In the final frame, the Scots had nine total shots with three of them on net, while Kzoo recorded 11 shots at Alma, four of them on goal. For the game, the Hornets held the advantage in corner kicks by a margin of four to two.

D Kyle Kansman (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington) paced Alma with both of his shots going on goal. Fr. F Tyler Raab (Mason, Mich./Mason) and So. M/F Julian Birge (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) each had three total shots with one on net.
