Men's Soccer Narrowly Edged by Adrian

Alma, MI - In a hard-fought MIAA conference matchup at Bahlke Field on Saturday night, the Alma College men's soccer team came up just short in a 3–2 loss to Adrian College. Despite a strong second-half, the Scots were unable to hold off the Bulldogs in the final minutes.

Adrian opened the scoring late in the first half when Kyle Jennings found the back of the net in the 38th minute, giving the Bulldogs a 1–0 lead heading into halftime.

Alma responded with energy coming out of the break, quickly flipping momentum to take the lead. Brenden Dore sparked the comeback with a goal in the 50th minute, assisted by JJ Riggsby and Christian Cepeda, to even the score at 1–1. Just three minutes later, Dore set up Riggsby for a finish that gave the Scots a 2–1 lead and sent the home crowd into a frenzy.

The Bulldogs, however, refused to back down. Jennings notched his second goal of the day in the 63rd minute to level the contest once again, and with under ten minutes to play, Aidan Beiter delivered the deciding strike in the 82nd minute.

Statistically, the two sides were evenly matched. Adrian held a narrow edge in total shots, 11–10, and put eight of those attempts on target compared to Alma's three. Scots goalkeeper Landon Soule recorded five saves in the effort. Both teams finished with three corner kicks apiece, and Alma was whistled for ten fouls to Adrian's seven.

With the result, Alma moves to 6–7–2 overall and 0–3–1 in MIAA play, while Adrian improves to 4–10–1 and 2–1–1 in the league. The Scots will look to bounce back as they continue conference action at Hope on Tuesday.
